5K and 1/2 Marathon Registration

Loop de Loop Information

Date and Time: The Loop de Loop 5K and Half Marathon will be held Saturday September 22, 2012. This will be part of the festivities for the grand opening of the Trout Run Trail. The race will begin at 7:30 am. The starting line will be located next to the Decorah High School Baseball field on Goose Island Drive.

Registration: Online registration has ended. You may register in-person at the packet pickup location at Decorah City Hall From 5:30-9:00 p.m. Friday or the morning of the race from 6:00-7:15 a.m. In-person registration for the 5k run/walk is $30. Half Marathon registration is $65 for those who register the week of the race, and $75 for those who register the day of the race. Runners who wish to run as a relay may do so for the half marathon. Cost for a relay team is double the appropriate half marathon entry fee. Half marathon relay teams may consist of up to four runners. One timing chip will be issued, which will be handed off between runners along the course. Teams can choose however they wish to split up the race. One waiver will be submitted per team with the team captain’s signature waiving liability for all team members. Each runner will get a t-shirt. Teams will need to indicate the number of t-shirts needed by listing the number next to each size on the registration form. Registration fees for this race are non-refundable in the event the race is cancelled.

Timing: This race will be timed utilizing AMB I.T. timing system to obtain accurate and quick results. No other timing chip may be worn. All Participants will be issued a chip and ankle band for use during the event.

Course: The course for the half marathon and the 5K will start just off Claiborne Drive near the Decorah High School baseball field. The half marathon will then proceed to the Trout Run Trail which is a closed loop path winding its way through the countryside on the outskirts of Decorah. The 5K will follow a flat course through Decorah, then will return along the Upper Iowa River. Both races will finish at the start line. Please see link for maps and elevations.

Age Groups: 12 & under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-45, 46-60 and 60+ medals will be presented to the first three finishers in each age division for both men and women. There will be no awards for the relay teams.

Packet Pick-up: Racers may pick up their race packets at City Hall From 5:30-9:00 p.m. Friday or the morning of the race from 6:00-7:15 a.m. The city hall is located at 400 Claiborne Drive. Please enter through the front doors, located past the water fountain, off Heivly Street.

Aid stations and refreshments: Aid/water stations will be located approximately every 2 miles along both the 5k and half marathon routes. Snacks will be provided at the end of race.
